Barcelona, 1 August, 2024. Hispano Suiza is set to participate in the prestigious Monterey Car Week, the leading motoring event in the United States during the summer season, running from August 9 to 18. The Californian city of Carmel-by-the-Sea and its surrounding areas attract around 100,000 attendees, including collectors, enthusiasts, and celebrities from various fields.

One of the highlights of Monterey Car Week is The Quail, ‘A Motorsport Gathering’. Here, Hispano Suiza will unveil the Carmen Sagrera to the American public. This hypercar, boasting a new design, 1,114 hp, and a 103 kWh battery, celebrates the company’s 120 years of history.

The Hispano Suiza stand will feature a merchandising area showcasing its new Capsule Collection, a hospitality area, and an exhibition space. The Carmen Sagrera will be officially presented at a press conference on August 16 at 11:00 am (local time).

Hispano Suiza’s rich history continues to be relevant today, a fact that will be highlighted at The Quail. The brand will in fact showcase the iconic 1938 Hispano Suiza Xenia Dubonnet, a model that inspired the current range of hypercars. Built on the chassis of the Hispano-Suiza H6B, with a body designed by aerodynamics expert Jean Andreau and handcrafted by Jacques Saoutchik, the Xenia was one of the most extravagant and aerodynamic cars of its time.

The celebration of Hispano Suiza’s 120th anniversary will be further honored with an exhibition in the exclusive Chairman’s Lounge.

According to Sergio Martínez Campos, CEO of Hispano Suiza: “Presenting the Carmen Sagrera in the United States on our 120th anniversary is a significant milestone for us. We couldn’t imagine a better setting than Monterey Car Week, and specifically, The Quail. For the third year in a row, we are sponsoring an event that allows us to provide a unique experience to our customers and partners in a key market for us.”

Another highlight of Monterey Car Week will take place on the evening of Thursday, August 15. As part of its partnership with the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, Hispano Suiza is sponsoring an industry talk at the Bonhams auction house in Carmel. The conference will focus on the anniversary of Hispano Suiza and the evolution of the electric hypercar industry. The talk will feature Sergio Martínez Campos, CEO of Hispano Suiza, and Juan Fernández, CTO of the brand.

About Hispano Suiza:
Hispano Suiza is a historic Spanish automobile brand owned by four generations of the Suqué Mateu family. Hispano Suiza Fábrica de Automóviles S.A. was founded in Barcelona in 1904 by Damián Mateu, with the help of technical director and engineer Marc Birkigt, also a partner in the company. In 2024 it celebrates 120 years of history, being one of the brands with the greatest legacy in the history of the automobile industry.

Between 1904 and 1946, Hispano Suiza produced more than 12,000 high-performance luxury vehicles and 50,000 aircraft engines. In 2019, the brand unveiled the Hispano Suiza Carmen, its 100% electric ‘Hypercar’, and a year later, it would up the ante with the Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne. This 2024, the Carmen Sagrera completes the range of electric hypercars redefining the Gentleman Driver concept and marking the future design line of the brand. A total of 24 exclusive and limited units.

120 years later, and following in the footsteps of the successful Hispano Suiza, the great-grandson of the founder Miguel Suqué Mateu continues to preserve the brand, providing impetus and dynamism with a clear vocation for the future and permanence.
